Ahhhhh...

This is what happens when you get a bunch of creative people together (who don't smoke weed) and do something awesomely fun and productive. BAM! We brought it all together with the help of our good pals Ivan Ehlers and Talia Honomichl. These two lovers are our San Pedro connection when it comes to giving our songs the visual life they deserve. Beautifully directed and edited, I must say. Real nice!

Super, super fun couple of days. Out and about in Torrance and the life giving Harbor Area for a few days goofing off with this cast of crazy knuckleheads doesn't get any better. No real hang-ups but we did have to stop after day 2 due to Davids hernia acting up. Lift with your legs Dave!... Anyhow we got it all together. And David only hurts when he laughs.

Sorry I've been so M.I.A, but like the title says. I've been out steadily grinding out this musical scene in my home town of Los Angeles. Out playing shows trying to be heard, and I guess not seen. But I really haven't met a person yet who does not at least giggle at me when I tell them, "I write songs." So for those of you that believe, as of today, I promise to keep you informed of things to come musically, artistically, financially, and what ever-ly else I want you to know about. Cool? Cool. Just a little insight in how we put songs together,.. together. This is filmed at a super secret spot where i can feel like i'm not an asshole for being creative. Usually I'll bring songs over to the boys after i'm done pulling my own fingernails out and crying all morning because i cant believe i want to be a still want to be a songwriter after all the nothing it has brought me. Just kidding. Not really.
Anyhow, I wrote this one after a week long horror of really bad dreams i was having. I don't know why, but they were there waking me up just to exhale cuss words at 4 in the morning. SCARY.
In this particular dream someone was trying to convince me that murder was really not that bad, and that maybe i could find some comfort in it. Ummm...the boys helped me work it out so i wouldn't kill anyone. That's better. Thanks guys!

So well, it's been a little bit since i've checked in with you over here. Just because of this record thing I've been working on. It's kinda pretty much done. So after about 2 years we've done all the recording and mixing and crying and fighting and making up, then punching my steering wheel... We just mastered it last night. Together. In harmony. So in regular guy language that means we're pretty close to having it done. For reals. Like 98% done.

Golden Ghosts. 12 songs straight from the heart. Straight to your ears. 3 full time players, 2 part timers, and a couple of good friends just for good measure. But still full of whatever it is you like best. Like smoothies.

Well, for those of you that don't know i dabble a little bit in the music-ness. I don't know, blame it on Depeche Mode or something. But ever since i figured out the "Just Can't Get Enough" opening keys riff on my sweet little Yamaha keyboard my Mom got me for Jesus's Birthday, i've been hooked. That was when i was about 10.
Since then i've traded in my keys for an axe (guitar) and followed my little heart's dreams where ever they could take me. Not that far it seems. But it does seem that things do come back to haunt me a little every once in a while.
So I put out this 7" record... oh, about 10 years ago now with my friends and it's funny that I found a review of it on BuddyHead that has a post date of this year.???. Go figure, anyhow i seem to remember a review of these same sorts being out when the record was new.But, did they re-write it but change a few lines to be funny??? I don't know??? but it is funny that he guessed I live in Long Beach, close to Compton!!! And it is funny that they couldn't tell if the singer was a boy or girl!!! I was singing!!! And I don't know if I'm a boy or girl either!!!
But there is a comment under the post by a sweet fan who seems to remember my friends and i doing this. She says we're hot!!! and all men, not wussy!!! Sweet girl.

So yeah, apparently there are these whole group of girls that have tattoos and piercings in their cheeks and lips, who don't eat meat but sure do know how to party!!!
I guess whiskey isn't and animal but it can turn you into one. One of the partying sorts.
Anyhow my friend and I, the ever elusive P.K. Ripper, went on a man-date together to see if we could convince some vegan artist ladies to have some drinks with us. Turns out there are a bunch of them in Downtown Chinatown!!! So not only did we meet some, they had drinks with us and then they took us to this party palace where they dwell and get half-price drinks because they are way cooler than everyone else. I know this because they kept telling us they were way cooler than everyone else. So cool, in fact, that they showed me how to behave on the dance floor properly. Goth dancing is a fine art untapped by the masses but perfected by Marilyn Manson.
Anyhow, it was fun I made some new friends. Kept and old one and dug out my old Echo & the Bunnymen tapes. I don't know why these girls call themselves Suicide Girls when they're not even gonna kill themselves. Stupid.

Anyhow, where i went to school there were alot of Pilipinos, i mean alot.So needless to say their culture had a big impact on mine. Ok, i am here...and now... am i in no way a woman hating chauvinistic macho manly-man who thinks women have their one place in this world. Also, contrary to popular belief ,i am not a homosexual (that's for dad if he ever reads this).i am single and i love women. See, i come from a long line of insatiable, selfish, childish, divorced men who think they have the world figured out and needless to say their women love them. They've stayed with them for years even after the shit they pull. i mean they have put these women through some shit. i mean real dark shit that make muthafuckers say "God damn!" And they're still together. Now that's love...i guess?

See, in no way do i identify with my forefathers, but i do see their point in all this love mess. "Just do you, and if they don't like it, fuck 'em!They know where the door is.". i'd like to think i could say that but i don't think i can. But i'm young and optimistic, what do i know? It's a tough job that takes a team effort and if you don't love your team then you're doomed from the start of it all.

But i know things can change.

Now alot of my friends are going through "changes" in their lives right now with their better halves. Now i embrace change but i do not envy some of the choices my dudes are having to make these days. I've been there and it's not easy.

The ones with girlfriends; either their girl wants to get married or they just left because my dude didn't ask them to marry. That second one was me.

The one's that decided to take the marriage option are either going to have a baby soon; just had a baby; or are getting a divorce because life has changed so much with a baby that it's just not possible to be with that woman anymore. All three of those examples are freaking out equally.Now you just put yourself in that scenario(really) and see what you do.

Either way, life changes. Big Time.

Now i guess my whole point to this is not to bash marriage but to uncloud the notion that i'm clouded about marriage because i'm not in love. Hey i've been in love and it's awesome. I recommend it to everyone to at least try it once.

It's just when we bring "the court of law and the power invested in me(the tattooed minister who got his certification on line)" into the mix. Not to mention the constant verbal onslaught from the family and your lady about "when are we going to take the next step?" Hey family, remember when we would drive to Raging Waters all the way out in who knows where the fuck San Dimas is and me and my cousins and brother would ask "When are we gonna get there?huh?huh?huh?huh?huh?" That just made you not want to go anymore, right? And to the enquiring girlfriend; Yes, it's unfortunate that us men aren't on a biological timeline so please, don't put us on one.

That's when things just go sour for me. See, i love my dudes and i don't want them to be hurt or be forced to make decisions that they really don't need to be making at this time in their lives. Where is our romance? Where is our choice? I love you girl,but damn you bug! Why do we have to be forced to make a decision we haven't even thought about yet. i don't know man, sometimes women just take the fun out of things. For reals.

Overdrafts for Beginners

....Alright, alright so if i'm the only one in the world who thinks he's being screwed by his bank, and his bank employees, not just sometimes, but all the time!!! Then fuck me... right?... So then, with that being said, raise your hand if you've ever paid for these gratuitous and overly abusive "overdraft fees" only to be punished further by having your deposits held for eleven days (business days, mind you) just because you've overdrawn one or two dollars more than once in the last year. " Well, due to your excessive overdrawing we have to hold this check until it clears." "???" Did i not pay for those overdrafts??? Did i not give you 33 American dollars for every time i went beyond my means as i swiped your precious ATM card??? The ATM card that has my name on it but which you can and do turn off, without notice, at any time you feel is convenient for you and your benefit. Ever tasted a 40 dollar bean and cheese burrito??? It tastes just like 7 dollar one with a side of chipotle overdraft sauce!!! Also, is it really necessary for those " continuous-overdraft fees"??? That's an extra five dollars a day for the time in between you actually overdraft and the time you actually put CASH in to cover it. How incredibly rude and distrusting you are.

If i happen to accidentally overdraw on my account ,but put money in to cover it within a reasonable time frame, i would think that should be a solid recovery on my part. Yes, i do think you should give me that one! But i understand, you're not here to help.

When i get statements that say how much interest i have accumulated this last quarter it's pretty mind blowing to see how much my bank does nothing for me except to make me cry in front of bank management and pretty bank teller girls.

I mean what happened to people helping people? "Yes, put your money here it will be safe and you will get interest on top of it and this cool shitty stuffed pony that looks just like the one you fell off of when you were 10!"

Straight up, i'm taking all my fuckin' money out, getting a lead safe, and a goddamn 9mm. Pauly D did it and now look how happy he is (see photo above). No more overdraft fees, no more service fees, transfer fees, telephone fees, checking fees, and bitch employees. Not now, not ever!!!
